A lecture by Oki Sato, representative of Design Office nendo, who graces the cover of the latest issue of "AXIS" (No. 164, on sale July 1st), will be held on the evening of Thursday, July 18th, at Axis Gallery in Roppongi. The talk event, titled "Why nendo? The Reasons Behind nendo," promises an insightful exploration.

A Conversation with the Editor-in-Chief of "AXIS"
Design Office nendo, constantly engaged in over 200 projects ranging from store design to furniture and products, garners significant attention from brands and manufacturers both domestically and internationally. In this lecture, Oki Sato, the representative of nendo, will share the origins of his creative inspiration behind the continuous stream of acclaimed works. Through a dialogue with the editor-in-chief of "AXIS," the event will delve into nendo's unique design sensibility and the "reasons" behind its widespread support.

Born in Canada in 1977. After completing his Master's degree at Waseda University's Graduate School in 2002, he founded nendo. In 2003, he made his debut at the Salone del Mobile.Milano, receiving a special award. Since then, he has exhibited at the Salone del Mobile for 11 consecutive years. He opened offices in Milan in 2005 and Singapore in 2012. In the same year, he was named Designer of the Year by both the British design and lifestyle magazine "Wallpaper*" and the interior design magazine "Elle Deco." He has received numerous awards both domestically and internationally, and his works are held in the collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. His recent publication includes "Nendo no Kando: Datsuryoku Design Ron" (Shogakukan). He has been a part-time lecturer at Waseda University since 2012. This October,Playful Shadowsfollowing the exhibition "Playful Shadows" held in March, an exhibition featuring collaborations with traditional Japanese craft artisans is scheduled to take place at Seibu Shibuya.
