The iconic FH436 Opera Chair by Frits Henningsen is reissued | CARL HANSEN & SØN
CARL HANSEN & SØN
A Beautifully Uncluttered Form, Suitable for Any Space
Danish furniture craftsman Frits Henningsen made his name by redesigning traditional furniture, pursuing timeless beauty and functionality. One such piece was the FH436 Opera Chair, which he introduced in 1936. Now, the FH436 Opera Chair is being reissued by Carl Hansen & Søn.
The back and side panels reach shoulder height, the rear legs are angled, and the subtly integrated armrests are beautifully shaped. It is immediately clear that this is a unique and elegant sofa. The use of high-quality materials and expert upholstery techniques also convey its superior craftsmanship.
The reissue is faithfully recreated from the original drawings and meticulously crafted by skilled upholsterers at the company's Danish headquarters. While previously only available in leather, this iteration introduces a fabric version. Both the classic leather version and the playful, modern fabric version share the same beautifully uncluttered form, suitable for any space.
This is truly one of Henningsen's most original masterpieces.
