New Additions: Limited Edition Items by Alexander Girard

The "Vitra Accessories Collection" offers a diverse lineup of interior accessories and textiles, continuously expanding each year. For Spring/Summer 2019, a limited release of the "Girard Collection" by Alexander Girard includes trays, mugs, greeting cards, paper napkins, and cushions.

The new items primarily focus on pieces inspired by the International Love Heart motif, as well as Girard's designs. Girard was drawn to the power and beauty of folk art from around the world, finding much inspiration there.

Consequently, his motifs and patterns often feature bold colors with unadulterated clarity. On the other hand, he also created works with strong contrasts in monochrome, such as the International Love Heart and his design for the upscale New York restaurant "L’Etoile" in 1966.

The "Girard Collection" for Spring/Summer 2019 presents a selection of items in black and white by Girard. The neutral monochrome palette harmonizes with various colors, forms, and materials, its subtle presence elegantly unifying spring interiors filled with bright light and diverse hues.

Furthermore, one of Girard's most notable achievements is his extensive body of textile designs, created under his direct supervision from color and pattern to texture. Among these, the "Graphic Print Pillow" series, known for its iconic motifs, has been updated for the first time in five years. Alongside the existing "Love Heart" and "Eyes," the limited-edition Spring/Summer 2019 motif "International Love Heart" has been added. Additionally, the "Snake" design now features a vibrant new blue color. These are notable pieces for the limited Spring/Summer 2019 season.




He also transformed one of his wall decorations, created for numerous projects including restaurants and private residences, into the new International Love Heart. This piece is a graphical product where the letters are cut out to form a heart shape.
