A new way to enjoy plants. Bring humor to your life with boundless creativity.
Sebastian Bergne is a product designer from the UK. After graduating from the Royal College of Art in London in 1990, he established his own studio. His achievements have gained wide recognition through numerous international design awards, publications, and exhibitions, with works housed in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the London Design Museum.
His inspiration stems from people's lives, and his motto is to create everyday objects through essential design. The product series “ha’,” born from a collaboration between Sebastian and Tokyo Saikai, offers a unique opportunity to enjoy plants in novel forms, brimming with humor.
While the products in “ha’” are primarily for enjoying plants, their use is entirely up to the individual. Their unique shapes and sizes are carefully designed to allow users to exercise their creativity freely. They are brought to life as high-quality porcelain products using traditional porcelain manufacturing techniques passed down in the Hizen region of Kyushu.
These fine porcelain pieces, completed through a lengthy manufacturing process encompassing everything from raw materials to prototypes, mold making, casting, finishing, and firing, are both intelligent and full of humor.
Through Sebastian Bergne’s perspective, the “ha’” products combine traditional techniques with contemporary design, not only bringing nature into the home but also offering opportunities for a more enduring coexistence with nature through the timeless material of ceramics.
A pop-up store will also be held at “ACTUS SLOW HOUSE Tennoz” from June 3rd (Monday) to June 18th (Tuesday). Pay attention to the styling as well. How would you use these new everyday objects?
