Iconic Collections Reimagined in Colors Evoking Japan and Finland

Japan and Finland. While respecting each other's cultures, they have built a friendly relationship, and this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. To celebrate this milestone year, "iittala," known for its glassware, is refining and newly releasing two popular collections: "Birds by Oiva Toikka" and "Flora."

"Birds by Oiva Toikka" is a collection of bird-shaped art objects released in 1972 by Oiva Toikka, a leading Finnish artist. The motif is the beautiful tern, a bird found in both countries. The base is engraved with "JAPAN FINLAND 2019."

Next is the "Flora" dining series, popular in the 1960s. The motifs of various flowers and plants, expressed in relief on delicate, thin glass, are designed by Oiva Toikka, a leading Finnish glass artist. Three items will be released: tumblers, bowls, and pitchers.

The two collections will be available in two colors: "Pale Pink," inspired by the cherry blossoms symbolizing Japan, and "Rain," reminiscent of the lakes symbolizing Finland. They are scheduled to be released in early June.
