Ceramic Tableware Series by a Glass Artist
Tokyo Saikai is releasing a ceramic tableware series designed by Yoko Andersson Yamano, a glass artist based in Sweden.
While ceramic tableware by a glass artist might seem unusual at first glance, both glass and ceramic share similar functions as tableware. Her ceramic pieces, created during her long residency in Sweden, come in three easy-to-use forms: a plate with a 100mm diameter, a bowl with a 200mm diameter and slight depth, and an oval dish measuring 260mm in length, all designed for everyday use.
A notable feature is the brown, green, or gray line drawn along the rim. Each line is meticulously handcrafted by artisans, enhancing the texture and presence of the ceramic itself.
Two exhibitions are also upcoming: "With any luck" at Utrecht in Shibuya, Tokyo, until Sunday, May 19, 2019, and "Yoko Andersson Yamano Glass Exhibition" at HANA wakusui in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, from May 25 to June 4 (Tuesday). The shapes, both practical and harmonious with their surroundings, are suitable for incorporating into your interior decor as well as for serving food.
