A glass pitcher-style teacup to enjoy matcha's vibrant green as you whisk.
Matcha's popularity surged globally, initially through celebrity endorsements, and it's now widely embraced as "Matcha." To share the culture and tradition of the tea ceremony alongside this "Matcha," the brand Matchaeologist was born, producing functional and beautifully designed tea ware. Their Instagram account features short videos on how to prepare matcha and recipes using it, clearly categorizing premium tea leaves grown in Uji, Kyoto, for both drinking and culinary purposes.
Previously, Matchaeologist's offerings included tea leaves, hand-blown double-walled glass tea bowls, long-handled whisks designed to complement the bowls, and tea scoops. Now, they introduce the Glass Katakuchi Serving Bowl, a modern interpretation of the traditional pitcher-style teacup, designed for whisking matcha for multiple people at once.
This bowl is not only practical due to its heat-resistant glass construction but also allows you to appreciate the beautiful green hue of the matcha as you whisk. The depth and curvature inside the bowl are precisely calculated to prevent splashing, and the sides feature subtle indentations for a comfortable grip when pouring the prepared matcha into individual cups, ensuring ease of use. Unlike traditional matcha bowls, which can sometimes damage the delicate tines of a whisk due to their surface finish, this bowl's smooth interior is gentle on whisks, making it ideal for daily matcha enjoyment. The item can be ordered directly from the Matchaeologist online store.
