A Rare Event to Experience "California" Across Eras and Genres

Born from the surf culture of Southern California in 1980, the brand "STUSSY" continues to create culture through various initiatives beyond apparel, even after more than 30 years since its founding.


In 2011, the label "STUSSY Livin' GENERAL STORE" was launched, proposing "new values." A GENERAL STORE, much like a neighborhood general store, is a place that stocks not only loungewear and interior goods but also food items, amenities, and tools—anything needed for daily life, without being confined to a specific genre. Such stores are scattered throughout California and across America.


Now, "STUSSY Livin' GENERAL STORE" is collaborating with Takahiro Goko of "Swimsuit Department," known as a distinguished buyer of vintage goods and clothing, for an event themed around California.


"Swimsuit Department" exhibits and sells items gathered from Japan and abroad in a trunk show format. Takahiro Goko, the proprietor, has a large following of fans both domestically and internationally, captivated by his discerning eye. The craft products and anonymous vintage items, sourced alongside Mr. Goko who has explored markets worldwide, offer a unique opportunity to experience "California" beyond specific eras or genres. This will also lead to an understanding of STUSSY's worldview.

After working at United Arrows and Playmountain, he established "Swimsuit Department." As an import agent for brands like Altadena Works and Echo Park Pottery, and through his curated collections of vintage goods and clothing sourced from around the world, he exhibits and sells them in a trunk show format, earning high acclaim both in Japan and internationally.
