The Significance of Reviving Gio Ponti's Work

Molteni&C, which has been re-examining the works of past masters of architecture and design, has acquired the manufacturing rights for furniture collections designed by Gio Ponti, often hailed as the "father of Italian architecture and design." This initiative, named the "GIO PONTI Collection," aims to bring to life masterpieces that deserve to be preserved for future generations.

Over the course of this two-year project, extensive discussions were held with experts regarding the merits of "revival" through modern manufacturing methods. The project gained momentum when Gio Ponti's heirs expressed a strong desire, stating that "reviving Ponti's work offers an opportunity to understand Ponti as a person, his creations, and a significant moment in Italian architecture."

This collection focuses on "residential furniture" and "limited series furniture" designed by Gio Ponti between the 1930s and late 1950s, from his diverse portfolio that ranged from door handles to urban planning projects. Each piece has been meticulously recreated based on in-depth research and analysis of the original works.
