Car Fragrance Has Arrived!
Bring the Elegant Scents of Florence to Your Car
Florence-based fragrance brand "Dr. Vranjes" has launched a new line of car-specific fragrances. To mark the occasion, master perfumer and brand representative Paolo Vranjes visited Japan. We spoke with him about these captivating scents at the brand's flagship store in Daikanyama.

Available in Three Varieties: Rich, Classic, and Modern
Dr. Vranjes was founded in 1983 by Paolo Vranjes. The brand's origins trace back to his childhood fascination with the small vials of essences his grandfather, a silk merchant, would bring back from his travels. Immersed in diverse global scents, his sense of smell became highly refined, and the beauty of those small bottles inspired his dream of a career in perfumery. He established his brand in Florence, a city with a long history of perfume appreciation, and over the past 30 years, has garnered a devoted following. His fragrances, crafted from carefully extracted natural essences, are entirely handmade.
Dr. Vranjes has now launched its first-ever car fragrance, "CARPARFUM." As an avid car enthusiast himself, Vranjes found inspiration for these scents from a unique source.
"Normally, I draw inspiration from the pleasantness of a morning walk or images from my travels, but for this line, the source of inspiration was
a visit to a Jaguar collector in the Florentine countryside. A whole garage filled with new and classic Jaguars captivated me with their luxury and vintage charm, sparking the idea."
The resulting car fragrances, "CARPARFUM," are available in three distinct scents: "CUOIO NOBILE," "CUOIO CLASSICO," and "CUOIO VERO."
"CUOIO NOBILE" evokes the rich, opulent aroma reminiscent of Bentleys, Rolls-Royces, and vintage Jaguars, with a prominent vanilla note. "CUOIO CLASSICO" is a sportier take compared to NOBILE, inspired by Porsche, featuring a spicy character.
"CUOIO VERO" is designed with modern cars in mind, such as a new Mercedes-Benz, incorporating rose to create a scent that is also appealing to women."
During his visit, Vranjes also hosted "Personal Appearance" sessions, where he personally guided customers through the fragrances based on their individual preferences. Given his strong following in Japan, the event was bustling with eager customers.
"Many customers asked numerous questions, showing great interest in the recommended scents and the reasons behind them. It was a valuable learning experience to understand what scents people like and what they are looking for.
Compared to Italians, I found that Japanese people ask more questions and possess a deeper curiosity to learn. In terms of scent preferences, they favored either distinctive, robust aromas like those of red wine, or delicate, fresh scents."
Vranjes himself exudes a noble aura, much like his fragrances, speaking with a calm demeanor and thoughtfully answering each question. With CARPARFUM, one can bring that same elegance to their beloved car.
