The Skill of "Young Masters" Resonating with LEXUS Craftsmanship

The Spindle Tray, crafted from Shizuoka woodturning, is the creation of the 2016 "LEXUS NEW TAKUMI PROJECT" Shizuoka representative, a woodturner. Woodturning is a traditional technique used to create circular objects by shaping wood on a lathe. Each piece is meticulously crafted by hand, without relying on machinery.

The Spindle Tray, now released, not only showcases woodturning techniques but also achieves a deep black hue through traditional Shizuoka tea dyeing. Furthermore, a glass coating provides a luxurious sheen. This piece fuses traditional techniques with modern design, resulting in an avant-garde aesthetic inspired by the LEXUS car's spindle grille. It can be displayed as a standalone interior piece, or it can serve as a tray to highlight the beauty of your favorite items.

The KIRIKO Glass was created by Mr. Toshiyasu Nakamura of "STUDIO KOBIN," who was also responsible for the door trim ornaments of the new LS. Nakamura's unique style, which extends beyond landscape KIRIKO and avoids conventional forms, is evident in this work. It is available in two colors: clear and turquoise. The delicate yet bold KIRIKO patterns, meticulously cut by the artisan's hand, incorporate motifs inspired by the new LS door trim. Beyond its beauty, the glass is designed to fit comfortably in the hand, offering a pleasant user experience.
