Special Edition Ballpoint Pen and Special Color Ink Also Released

Montblanc, which prides itself on fostering writing culture, has produced the "Writers Edition" series since 1992, each year honoring the achievements of a single author with handcrafted pieces. The theme for 2017, the 27th installment, is Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the author of "The Little Prince."

Born into a noble family in France in 1900, Saint-Exupéry was an active commercial pilot before World War II. He was part of the French Air Force until the armistice between Germany and France in 1940.

He later joined the Free French Air Force in North Africa. While his life was tumultuous, marked by his disappearance on a final mission in July 1944, he also left behind the timeless masterpiece "The Little Prince," beloved by children and adults alike. His own life story is recounted as a legend filled with romance.

The "Limited Edition 1931" fountain pen is produced in a limited run of 1,931 pieces, commemorating the year Saint-Exupéry's second novel, "Night Flight," was published.

The design is based on the aircraft he loved during that era, resulting in a collection brimming with the romance of soaring through the skies.

The "Special Edition," produced for a limited time within 2017, is available in three types: fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint pen. The night blue precious resin body and cap offer a chic impression, while the barrel is inscribed with the names of cities that played significant roles in Saint-Exupéry's life. Additionally, a special color ink inspired by the desert sunset was released concurrently.

These beloved writing instruments are for adults who wish to never forget their pure hearts. As with previous Montblanc special limited editions, once production ceases, they will never be reissued, and the designs and molds are scheduled for destruction.
