"Kawabe Tenrendan" began in 2016 with the aim of discovering new possibilities in the techniques used for Buddhist altar manufacturing. The newly released "Chotsugai" is a collaboration with "NEW LIGHT POTTERY," a lighting brand known for its timeless products that balance industrial approaches with craftsmanship.





The hinge technology used in making Buddhist altars has been applied to lamp shades, with both parties' meticulous attention to detail resulting in octagonal and dodecagonal forms. The shape can also be altered by bending the hinge section.

The materials used are brass, copper, and copper colored black—three types in total. The pieces will develop a beautiful patina over time.
