A Sacred Aura Residing in a Simple Frame of Tamo Wood
Located in Minamikyushu City, Kagoshima Prefecture, on the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula, Kawabe Town is known for its prosperity as a center for Buddhist altar manufacturing, a craft passed down to younger generations. To explore new possibilities within the seven essential techniques of altar making, local artisans have formed "Kawanabe Shurendan" in collaboration with creators.

In collaboration with Masanori Oji (Oji & Design), they present a "Kamidana" (Shinto altar) and "Butsudan" (Buddhist altar) featuring simple frames. The design, evoking a sense of sacred boundary, imbues the objects placed within with a divine atmosphere. Both are crafted from durable tamo wood. The "Kamidana" includes a glass top to protect the amulet from dust. Available in two finishes: oil and urushi lacquer.
