Modern designs balancing function and beauty

New creations born from a collaboration with design firm Luft

Since its founding in 1910, Kimura Glass has continued to craft glassware with a focus on handmade delicacy and original, modern designs. In collaboration with design firm Luft, they have released new water glasses and table soy sauce dispensers. Furthermore, the popular "Bello" glass, first introduced last year, now has new sizes, completing the full lineup.

Kimura Glass: The "Ultra-Thin Glass"

Blown by skilled artisans, the glass is less than 1mm thick, resulting in an exquisitely delicate and minimalist design. The "ultra-thin glass," known as "Compact," has been a staple beer glass for Japanese cuisine since its introduction in high-end kappo restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto about 60 years ago. This signature Kimura Glass product, once adorned with a "crane mark," even flew around the world in the first-class cabins of propeller aircraft.

The ultra-thin glass series, now available in over 50 sizes, received the GOOD DESIGN AWARD "Long Life Design Award" last year, recognizing its design that has been cherished by people for many years.

The new products were designed by Luft (http://luftworks.jp), a design firm headed by Tomoko Takeshima and Nami Makishi. Luft, meaning "air" in German, is guided by the motto of incorporating fresh air, space, and pauses into environments and objects, and their design work spans spaces, furniture, and products.

Subtle, Understated, Airy Glasses

The water glass, designed by Nami Makishi, is a refined reimagining of familiar commercial water glasses. It's characterized by its ability to enhance the taste of water, beer, wine, and sake. These subtle, understated, and airy glasses are also stackable.

Designed by Chinatsu Oketa of Luft, the soy sauce dispenser, akin to a cup or pitcher, is intended for daily use and washing. Its compact size fits comfortably in the palm, complementing tabletop settings without overwhelming them. It allows for precise pouring with a clean, visible stream of soy sauce and a sharp cut-off. Both the body and lid are designed for easy cleaning, ensuring fresh soy sauce is enjoyed without staleness.

Glasses Born from Considering "How Japanese People Enjoy Flavors"

The "Bello" series of glasses, designed to complement various beverages like wine, sake, and tea with meals, now offers a full lineup of five sizes with the addition of the new "Bello TL" and "Bello XM." Bello, recognized as a new form for wine glasses, can add a touch of distinction to your everyday dining table.

Kimura Glass's new collection makes beautiful glassware accessible, enriching daily life. These are items you'll want to incorporate into various settings.
