ALONGU | The Form of Future Japanese Cuisine

On display until October 31, coinciding with DESIGNART TOKYO 2021

With a philosophy to “bridge people and objects to enrich lives,” Saikai Toki has been developing Hasami-ware tableware for the global market. Now, in collaboration with product designer Jin Kuramoto, they launch the new brand “ALONGU 明論具.” While full-scale development is planned for next spring, unique pieces will be previewed at “CIBONE CONNECT.”

Japanese food culture has evolved by embracing diversity and creating unique forms. Cherishing this foundation, Saikai Toki introduces the new brand “ALONGU 明論具” to explore the shape of vessels that herald the future of Japanese cuisine.
Product design is by Jin Kuramoto, known for his clear forms across diverse genres. Art direction is by Japanese-American graphic designer Rei Masaki.
Ahead of the full launch next spring, unique pieces titled “Edition_0” are being unveiled for the first time at “CIBONE CONNECT” in Omotesando. Sales are also planned at the venue. Born from experimental glazes, the vessels carry the designer's passion, their presence akin to art pieces. We invite you to visit the exhibition.
