A Masterpiece Finally Released
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec's New Series "Officina"
MAGIS, a brand that incorporates cutting-edge technology and design to bring new changes to interior design, has launched its new series "Officina." This collection, which was showcased at the Tokyo showroom during Design Week last fall and garnered significant acclaim, has been hailed by CEO Eugenio Perazza as "a masterpiece in MAGIS's 40-year history." Expectations for this new series are understandably high.

Rich Texture Born from Exceptional Taste and Relentless Innovation
Designed by the French design duo Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, "Officina" is MAGIS's new furniture collection featuring frames shaped through forging. Forging, a traditional method of shaping iron by hammering, was used in Europe until several decades ago for fences, architectural elements, and decorative ironwork. Creating contemporary products using this technique, which evokes a classic image, can truly be called a challenge. The exhibition "Material and Inspiration," held last fall, prominently featured "Officina." The texture of the frames, bearing the marks of the hammer, possesses a richness not found in contemporary furniture, leaving a profound impression on viewers. And this spring, the "Officina" series is finally being released.
The collection comprises 16 types in total. Tabletops are available in six materials: steel plate, walnut, ash, Ardesia, marble, and glass. The steel legs come in two finishes: galvanized and black lacquer. With these combinations, the series offers over 60 variations.
A key characteristic of this collection is its emphasis on the manufacturing process. Rather than relying solely on digital design communication, the focus was on the hands-on work of forging and bending iron in the factory. The Bouroullec brothers visited the workshop, overseeing every step and undertaking multiple prototypes, resulting in a collection imbued with a palpable sense of passion. The variety in leg design, finish, size, tabletop shape, and tabletop material is the largest ever seen in MAGIS's table collection. With the exception of the walnut tabletop, all options are suitable for outdoor use, allowing them to enhance a variety of settings.
Furthermore, new items such as chairs are planned for the future. The "Officina" series, with its rich texture unlike that of contemporary furniture, promises to bring a more refined way of living. This embodies the literal meaning of MAGIS – "more."
