The Essence of Light Brought by the "LED," a Pinnacle of Innovation, and the Pursuit of Design
Euroluce, the world's premier international lighting exhibition. With over 300 exhibiting brands, it showcases the latest creations from leading global brands like FLOS and Artemide, alongside designer and emerging labels. While LED innovation continues unabated, a growing trend questions the very essence of light. The latest trends in lighting design swirled through the venue, a confluence of innovation and analog, technology and nature, respect for past works, and a clear emphasis on both cutting-edge technology and a return to origins.

A Celebration of Lighting Trends
Held every two years in Italy, the Euroluce international lighting exhibition is the world's foremost showcase for lighting fixtures, highlighting design trends. Co-located with the Salone del Mobile.Milano international furniture fair, it attracts over 300,000 visitors from around the globe, including buyers, journalists, and press. Simultaneously, exhibitions open to the public transform Milan into a city illuminated by delightful light for a full week.
FLOS, Artemide, and Foscarini, top Italian brands and hosts of Euroluce, identified glass as the most beautiful material for light diffusion. Their works clearly show a reverence for traditional Italian "Murano glass," masterfully integrated with cutting-edge LED light source technology.
Concurrently, emerging brands such as Spain's VIBIA, Canada's BOCCI, and Belgium's DELTA LIGHT, which have risen to prominence in recent years, garnered attention for their exceptional design prowess and innovative concepts. While Italian brands engage with tradition and history, these new players presented works looking towards the next phase.
The Fuorisalone, exhibitions held outside the main venue, also featured many noteworthy displays. Artemide unveiled a large-scale renovation of its showroom to coincide with Euroluce, captivating passersby with "Spectral Light," an exhibition scientifically exploring the mysteries of light. Foscarini's showroom presented "Tunnel of Light" and "Ritratti," experiential exhibitions for guests, creating the illusion of an endless tunnel through mirror effects. These demonstrated that lighting fixtures possess not only functional and interior value but also significance as entertainment.
To summarize this year's Euroluce in one phrase: "Learning from the past to create the future." With incandescent bulbs phased out in Europe in 2012 and halogen bulbs expected to follow, LEDs have become the standard. This year, the focus was on "designs made possible by LEDs," suggesting that contemplating the essence of light led to a deeper understanding of the essence of the products themselves.
