The Importance of the Word 'Eye'.

Some of you may remember a commercial from the 1980s with the tagline, "Eyewear is part of your face." It was a very clear message, and one I often find myself using when discussing glasses.
I believe words eventually become dated. It's not hard to imagine that, at the time, eyewear felt like an integral part of one's appearance. Perhaps the key to making eyewear a part of your face was its unobtrusiveness, much like a business card or a conservative tie. Forgive the bluntness, but I suspect that being unremarkable was the secret to making it feel like a part of one's face.
In a sense, eyewear has long been considered a fashion item, worn like an accessory. This is the modern perspective, and if we were to update the slogan, it would be, "Eyewear is part of fashion."
I've attended countless trade shows over the decades. Among them, Takahiro Miyashita's collections consistently feature the most eyewear, both in terms of the number of styles and the sheer volume. While other brands might offer sunglasses or occasional eyewear pieces each season, the quantity is usually limited. Miyashita, however, frequently uses the word 'eye' in various contexts. This is likely why he has such a strong attachment to 'eyewear'.
It's fresh in our memory that models wore red contact lenses on their left eyes in the lookbook and movie for TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist.'s recent season (2021ss).
The sheer number of glasses is, in a way, a testament to a designer who truly regards eyewear as a fashion element.
The launch of <TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheLeftEye.> feels like a natural progression for Miyashita, who has long been dedicated to eyewear. The brand embodies Miyashita's approach to eyewear as a fashion statement, mirroring his design philosophy for clothing with thoughtful systems that consider the wearer's experience, evident throughout.
Initially, two styles are presented: "0000." and "0001."
"0000." is a traditional style, but with a clever twist! The temples extend! This is a feature that only someone who wears glasses would truly appreciate, but it's a welcome system that allows you to hang them around your neck when needed. Furthermore, the extending temple system, as if to embody Miyashita's theme for eyewear design, "Listen To This Glasses.," evokes headphones, a truly inspired touch!
"0001." features the oval shape, which has become synonymous with Miyashita's eyewear. This design, famously worn by Kurt Cobain during shows Miyashita has often referenced, is released not as a direct replica, but with a "new wave" detail on the nose bridge. It stands as a crucial signature for the designer in creating eyewear as a fashion statement.
As mentioned earlier, Miyashita's focus on the "left eye" is a characteristic approach. It's an idea that stems from his consistent practice of incorporating mechanisms that are easier for left-handed individuals into his clothing designs.
We're eager to see the upcoming new models from <TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheLeftEye.>. Eyewear is part of fashion, and that's precisely what <TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheLeftEye.> embodies.
