World's First "Women-Only" Headphones & Earphones Now Available

Skullcandy, the American headphone brand known for its distinctive "skull" motif and commitment to sound quality, has launched in Japan its "KNOCK OUT" headphones and "BOMBSHELL" and "DIME" earphones, the world's first to be tuned and designed specifically for women. Additionally, its flagship store opened on November 29th on Harajuku's Cat Street.

Ear Gels and Ear Pads Resist Makeup and Daily Grime

For the development of its women-only headphones and earphones, Skullcandy surveyed 10,000 women. The design considers not only the typical size differences in women's heads and ears but also their more sensitive hearing, achieving superior comfort, fit, and acoustics.

For example, the on-ear "KNOCK OUT" headphones feature a "toe angle" (angle relative to the ear) increased by 50 percent, equalizing pressure across the entire ear to avoid excessive tightness. This pressure is further reduced by 24.2 percent to match the optimal comfort level preferred by women.

The "DIME" and "BOMBSHELL" earphones utilize oval, slender ear gels for a superior fit within the female ear canal.

In terms of acoustics, the sound profile was tested across three types, with the most popular adopted for the three women's models. Based on test results indicating that "women are more sensitive to high frequencies," the design achieves a pleasant high-frequency response that is easy on the ears and reduces fatigue.

Furthermore, the ear gels and ear pads are made with a special silicone called "PURECLEAN," which prevents makeup and daily grime from adhering and maintains its effectiveness throughout use, adding to the appeal of these meticulously tuned and designed products for women.
