High-quality music evokes stories, and vivid visuals stir emotions. The HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Pro is a rare tablet equipped with the specifications to achieve both. For creators, music and visuals are sources of inspiration. This time, through the life's work of illustrator Sho Miyata, I aim to explore how quality sound and visuals influence creativity and create synergy.

Clear Music That Blends into Daily Life
On the desk in Miyata's home studio, there's a large display and a pen tablet. Around them are scrapbooks filled with images from Hermès scarf catalogs and snapshots taken by ordinary people abroad. Sketchpads, pens, and erasers are also placed within easy reach. From this setting, J Dilla's rap, with his distinctive beats, resonated from the HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Pro. "When I'm drawing, I usually listen to music to concentrate. The speakers, tuned by Harman Kardon, are incredibly clear, and the music naturally evokes the world of the illustration I'm drawing. It's like the image of a lush forest or a wild sea appearing in my mind when I'm faced with an orchestra."

Moved by the Subtle Expressions in Detail
In the thick scrapbook he had on hand, he had cut out and pasted the expressions and gestures of people from past movies and magazines. Does he actually draw inspiration from movies?
"I also use movies as a reference for my drawings. I was captivated by the actors' expressions on the HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Pro's high-definition display. The vivid sparkle in their eyes when the camera zoomed in, and the sweat trickling down their cheeks from tension, moved me emotionally. After watching images rendered in such detail, I felt a sense of satisfaction and a surge of creative desire."
The display, which achieves visual beauty that depicts even the finest details, is a 2K IPS display with a high pixel density of 280 PPI for high definition. The proprietary image optimization tool "ClariVu" automatically adjusts dynamic range and contrast to match the video.

In addition to its high entertainment performance, the HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Pro comes with the "HUAWEI M-Pen."
The "M-Pen" supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt detection, enabling highly detailed pen input. It can be used for about 50 days on a single charge.
Miyata usually draws rough sketches on paper and finishes them digitally. Compared to the stylus pens he usually uses, the M-Pen has excellent responsiveness to the pen tip and a remarkably smooth feel, making it comfortable to use without any sense of awkwardness.
"I felt its ease of use from the first touch. It's exciting just to have all the necessary tools for drawing in one device. It has more than enough specs for sketching."
This time, we had him draw illustrations outdoors, taking advantage of the tablet's portability. Miyata says that changing his environment by going outside allowed him to draw with a different mindset.

"I usually draw illustrations based on themes provided by clients, searching for samples from the internet or past scrapbooks for reference. Everything is completed within that context, so I rarely leave my home studio. When I heard about the high-performance HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Pro, I immediately attached the included case and went out."

How did his usual illustrations change?

I quickly sketched these ordinary scenes. With the M-Pen, I could instantly switch to eraser mode by pressing the button, so I drew without hesitation. Also, being able to draw while standing is unique to a highly portable tablet. I usually work with a pen tablet on my desk, so its slim and easy-to-hold design was a big plus."
