The Smart Writing Set That Bridges Analog and Digital
MOLESKINE has launched the "Smart Writing Set," a notebook and pen set that instantly digitizes handwritten notes and sketches, syncing with dedicated smartphone and tablet applications.

MOLESKINE, the European multi-category brand that has captivated generations of artists and, more recently, business professionals with its simple notebook product, has released the "Smart Writing Set." This innovative tool instantly digitizes handwritten notes and sketches, allowing for easy editing and sharing later.
The Smart Writing Set comprises the compact "Pen+" with an infrared camera in its tip, the "Paper Tablet" notebook with a special dot-grid layout, and the dedicated applications "Moleskine Notes" and "Neo Notes" for saving, editing, and exporting written notes and sketches. What you write in the Paper Tablet with the Pen+ is saved as digital data by Moleskine Notes or Neo Notes.
The "Pen+" digitizes what is written on paper and saves it directly to a paired smartphone via Bluetooth. When written without a smartphone, the Pen+'s internal memory records the content, syncing when connected to the application. The pen's refill uses a commercially available D1 standard type, making it easy to replace when the ink runs out.
The companion "Paper Tablet" utilizes NeoLAB Convergence's patented "Ncode™ technology," which allows for the digital saving of written content. The infrared camera in the Pen+ reads the Ncodes printed in dots on the paper, recognizing which page and position were written on. A mail icon is also printed on the top right of each page; checking this mark allows for immediate sharing of the digital data written with the Pen+.
Ideas written in the Paper Tablet can be managed using the iOS application "Moleskine Notes" or the Android OS application "Neo Notes." Both handwritten and digital data can be uploaded, exported to file formats like text or PDF, and edited, including text searches. Data can also be shared across various storage services and devices, including Google Drive and Evernote.
The Smart Writing Set is available for pre-order at the MOLESKINE Atelier in Tokyu Hands Shinjuku Store and the MOLESKINE online store. General sales are scheduled to begin on Friday, May 20th of the same year.
