Creative Geniuses Gather in the Heart of Tokyo

Tokyo Designers Week 2014 Opens

Tokyo Designers Week (TDW), an annual large-scale event that draws a diverse array of creators including companies, designers, artists, and students, is set to commence on Saturday, October 25th, at the plaza in front of the Meiji Jingu Gaien Institute of Art. This year is no exception.

Exciting Programs for All Ages

This year marks the 29th iteration of Tokyo Designers Week, with the theme "Creative FeS - Expo of Geniuses." Under the keyword "genius," creators from various fields have been invited to present special exhibitions and workshops.

For OPENERS readers, we particularly recommend the content titled "Architectural Models and Their Proposals," which showcases architectural models and proposal documents not typically seen by the public.

With Toyo Ito and Kengo Kuma serving as executive committee members, and 13 leading Japanese architects including Junya Ishigami, Kazuyo Sejima, Makoto Tanijiri, and Sou Fujimoto participating, this exhibition offers a three-dimensional architectural presentation by simultaneously displaying the "proposals" that embody the thoughts of top architects and the "architectural models" that bring them to life.

Talk sessions with architects and special guests will also be held on Monday, October 27th, and Tuesday, October 28th.

The unique models and proposal documents, filled with diverse ideas, are expected to stimulate the sensibilities not only of visitors but also of emerging architects and students of architecture.

In addition,Renault Projection Mappingand the "Hokusai Manga Inspire Exhibition," along with the comprehensive creative award "AISA AWARDS," offer a wealth of engaging content that brings together cutting-edge intellect and creativity.

We highly recommend a visit to the heart of Tokyo, within the forest of Jingu.
