WONDERWALL, an architectural design firm headed by Masamichi Katayama, is active in a wide range of fields, including interior design, architectural design direction, and product design. Their innovative ideas, which visualize the possibilities and future of design, are supported by clients worldwide. Essential to their design process is the creation of "architectural models" to visualize their ideas. WONDERWALL's models are renowned for their high quality, often resembling miniature buildings in themselves.
The first model exhibition, held in the autumn of 2010, garnered significant attention from various media outlets despite its highly analog and niche concept, receiving a strong positive response.
This second exhibition offers an enhanced experience, allowing visitors to explore "small worlds of reality" rarely seen by the public. It promises a unique glimpse into Katayama's creative mind. The exhibition will feature models from 10 WONDERWALL projects, including A-FACTORY, DRAWER AOYAMA, and INTERSECT BY LEXUS – TOKYO. A special advance release of the second volume of their collected works, "WONDERWALL ARCHIVES 02," will also be available at the venue.
To commemorate the exhibition and the release of the new book, a collaboration item with MAISON KITSUNÉ, known for its activities in fashion, music, and art, will be available. Masamichi Katayama, a fan of MAISON KITSUNÉ, commissioned designer Masaya Kuroki to create original T-shirts. Two French phrases proposed by Kuroki, reflecting his background in architecture, serve as the design motif. These limited-edition T-shirts, with only 100 pieces of each design, will be sold at the exhibition venue and the Wonderwall Web Shop.
