Architect Tsuyoshi Tane discusses "Thinking About Architecture from the Memory of Place" in a lecture


Paris-based architect Tsuyoshi Tane, co-founder of DGT. (Dorell.Gottsegen.Tane Architects), who gained prominence through the competition for the Estonian National Museum, and who has also designed numerous exhibitions including Citizen's installation "LIGHT is TIME," will hold a lecture titled "Thinking About Architecture from the Memory of Place" at Axis Gallery in Roppongi on Thursday, July 16.

A rare opportunity to ask questions to Tane, who resides in Paris


The AXIS Forum on Thursday, July 16, will explore Tane's architectural concepts through the keyword "memory of place." He is scheduled to discuss various projects, including the "Estonian National Museum" (scheduled for completion in 2016), the award-winning "LIGHT is TIME," and his first residential project, "A HOUSE for OISO."

Tsuyoshi Tane
Born in Tokyo in 1979. Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Art and Engineering, Hokkaido Tokai University, and was a visiting researcher at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. After working at Henning Larsen Architects and David Adjaye Associates, he co-founded DGT. (Dorell.Gottsegen.Tane Architects) in Paris in 2006 with Dan Dorell and Lina Gottsegen.
His representative works include the Estonian National Museum (scheduled for completion in 2016), the "Kofun Stadium" (2012) which was a finalist in the New National Stadium design competition, "A HOUSE for OISO" (2015), and "Toraya Paris" (2015). He has received the French Ministry of Culture's Prize for Young Architects (2008) and the Milan Triennale Award (2008).
He will serve as director for the "Architect Frank Gehry" exhibition at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, to be held this autumn. His co-authored books include "Working as an Architect Overseas" (Gakugei Publishing), "The Concept of Soft Architecture" (Film Art), and "Finding Your Own Learning" (Film Art). He is a lecturer at Columbia University GSAPP and the Swiss ESVMD Graduate School.
