The “Puma by Mihara Yasuhiro” above are, by far, the shoes I wore most this year. They evoke disco, astronauts, the future, and Nooka!

My Top 10 Worn in 2009!
Everyone who knows me knows this (except for Nooka, perhaps).
That I am obsessed with three things: music, bikes, and shoes. I never wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. The positive results of this life choice are that my feet never stink, and second, people always have a conversation starter with me.
So, even though 2009 was a very tough year financially, I’ve continued to add new shoes to my shoebox without learning my lesson. And this review is based on the data of which shoes I actually continued to wear and wear out, my top 10.

“Around the Shoes” These are the perfect medium grey, much like many of the clothes in my wardrobe. The material is not very breathable, but as you know, sometimes you have to suffer for fashion.

“Muji” Another pair that is not very breathable. But they were $40. I can’t complain.

“Jil Sander” These are good-looking and comfortable. I bought them at Aloha Rag, a select shop in West Soho. Wonderful!

“Adidas” I don’t know if this is how they are meant to be worn, but I walked around in these and rode my mountain bike all over the city. If I commuted to work by car, these would surely be the perfect driving shoes.

“YMC [You Must Create]” Soft European style that fits my fussy feet.

“MUG [Minotaur Urban Gear]” I bought these at the M.U.G. pop-up shop at Isetan Shinjuku during my visit to Tokyo in March. They are great, but I was so sad to get fried chicken grease on them on the first day I wore them in New York.

“Prada” Do I need to say anything about these? Simply beautiful!

“Tretorn” These are also very cute. I wear them even on days when it’s not raining. But my feet get so hot inside the thick rubber.

“Puma by Mihara Yasuhiro” By far, the shoes I wore most this year. They evoke disco, astronauts, the future, and Nooka!

“Puma by Mihara Yasuhiro” I think I might be a bit too old to wear shoes like these, but can you resist the faux leopard trim combined with new materials and soles? Clearly, I can’t.
As you can see from the photos, even expensive shoes will be used on the streets of New York, so there will be no TLC (Tender Loving Care), and I will surely be looking for new finds next year!
