“Adult Halloween” 2014: Canary Yellow and Black
As Halloween season approaches, orange hues have become more noticeable on the streets of Japan. During this time, at "FLORALUXE," we often use flowers we call gold yellow.—Gold yellow is a color that evokes warmth, like a shade between yellow and orange, or a canary yellow. You can feel the radiance and vitality unique to fresh flowers.

Warmth Felt in the Heart: The Essence of the Sun
The rose named "Tycoon," a gorgeous moniker meaning great ruler or king, comes from Kenya in Africa. Then there are California poppies from California, marigolds air-freighted from Africa, cymbidiums from Singapore, and ixoras from Okinawa... all flowers that have grown absorbing abundant sunlight. Perhaps the warmth we feel in our hearts is the essence of the sun.

And speaking of yellow, it is the signature color of the French champagne brand "Veuve Clicquot." It began in 1873 when a yellow label was applied as a "special attire" for a vintage. Three years later, it became a mark to distinguish dry vintages for the British market from others, but this distinctive and highly original yellow label was accepted by customers and became ingrained as the brand's color.
Interestingly, it seems the color was initially a lighter shade than the current canary yellow, gradually deepening over the years to settle into the distinctive yellow we see today.
With such anecdotes in mind, while gazing at canary yellow flowers arranged in a black vessel, this Halloween, let's toast with Veuve Clicquot instead of pumpkins!
