NEWS | Lladró's "Hina Campaign"
Celebrate the Double Ninth Festival (September 9th) with Autumn Hina Dolls
Lladro's "Later Hina" Campaign
Lladro, a brand that creates various works while expressing respect for Japanese traditional culture, is holding a "Later Hina" campaign from August 17th. In honor of "Choyo no Sekku" (the Double Ninth Festival), which is being forgotten in modern Japan, they are offering a special limited autumn arrival of their popular "Hina Dolls," which are usually only available in spring, with the aim of reviving the custom of enjoying Hina dolls once more.

Japan has long been rooted in various seasonal festivals. In addition to the festivals of Nanukusa, Momo, Tango, and Tanabata, there is also "Choyo no Sekku" (the Double Ninth Festival) on September 9th, which is considered one of the five major Sekku.
This Double Ninth Festival is also known as the "Chrysanthemum Festival." Since the Heian period, it has been celebrated with various health-wishing rituals using chrysanthemums, based on the legend that chrysanthemums could bestow longevity.
Particularly interesting is the custom that emerged during the Edo period of displaying Hina dolls again in autumn after they were displayed in spring. This practice, known as "Later Hina," was popular among merchants and farmers in the Edo period and was common enough to be used as an autumn season word in the haiku poems mentioned above.
During the "Later Hina" campaign, Lladro boutiques, including the Ginza Main Store, and authorized retailers are showcasing chic autumn Hina doll displays adorned with chrysanthemums.
