Part 6: Domeau & Peres's Innovative Furniture (2)
Last time, we introduced Domeau & Peres, a company founded in France ten years ago that leverages traditional, high-level craftsmanship and collaborates with interior designers.
This time, I'd like to explore another facet of their work.

Unique Creations
Are you familiar with "Mon Oncle" (My Uncle), the film by Jacques Tati, the renowned French comedian and film director?
It's a comedy that satirically depicts people's lives during the height of modern design. In the film, art director Marcia Maciejewski and Jérôme Duchamp designed peculiar furniture and fixtures. A project was undertaken to recreate three iconic pieces of this furniture with these two designers. Tati's films are popular in Japan, and this event generated buzz, particularly among Francophiles.
It's fascinating that Domeau & Peres engages in such unique projects while also providing technical expertise to prestigious brands.
The work by Domeau & Peres we're introducing this time is the "Domo 2004" chair and ottoman by Martin Szekely.
While Szekely's name may not be widely known in Japan yet, he is one of the most important designers poised for a breakthrough. In his native France, he has already achieved recognition through collaborations with storied brands, designing jewelry for Hermès, coolers for Dom Pérignon, and cutlery for the luxury silverware maker Christofle.
More recently, he has supplied limited-edition furniture to galleries like Galerie Kreo in Paris, a hub for the design-as-art movement.
The Domo 2004 embodies Szekely's signature minimalist aesthetic, but the exquisite treatment of the leather imbues it with a sense of mode, echoing the sensibilities of fashion design.

This dustbin is also a work by Martin Szekely.
Its sculptural form is beautifully realized.
[la plus belle] ¥52,500 each
