Everyday Skateboarders

This is the first photobook by Nick Haymes, born in the UK in 1968 and now based in New York.
True to its poetic title, 'Between Dog and Wolf,' the 32 pages capture the unique energy and the emotional immaturity and anxieties of young skateboarders transitioning from boyhood to manhood.
While seemingly shot with a rough touch, a closer look reveals a high degree of completion, including the composition.

It captures youth as they are, much like the work of Tim Barber and Peter Sutherland of tinyvices.com. These pieces, neither sensational nor overly lyrical, feel comfortably like his relationship with them.
