Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956. Graduated from Tama Art University, Department of Product Design. Joined Seiko Epson Corporation.

Moved to the US in 1989 and joined the company that would become IDEO. He creates designs that embody his unique theory of form, "Harai" (tension/stretch), and meticulously refined details.

Returned to Japan in 1996 to establish IDEO Japan. He led workshops such as "WITHOUT THOUGHT," engaging in design consulting in a way previously unseen in Japan.

His activities led to the creation of the wall-mounted CD player for MUJI, the INFOBAR mobile phone commercialized by KDDI, and ±0, a project with Takara.

The terms "center of consciousness," which relates to the existence of all people and objects, and "Kime" (texture), meaning the grain or texture of a material, serve to connect Fukasawa Naoto's seemingly simple products to the more complex human ecology.

Became independent in 2003. Released works from Danese, Magis, Driade, Artemide, B&B Italia, and Vitra. In 2006, he began activities aligned with the philosophy of "Super Normal" alongside Jasper Morrison.

Fukasawa Naoto's products, which embody globality by connecting it to Japanese perspectives and ways of thinking, have achieved truly worldwide value.
