The Pink Peony, a Favorite Among New Yorkers
For Mother's Day 2014: Peonies and Carnations
When it comes to early summer flowers beloved by New Yorkers, the pink peony stands out with its overwhelming presence. Available in shades from a light pink close to white, to a bluish fuchsia, and a warm coral pink, its beautiful gradation and layers of petals evoke the image of an elegant, gorgeous gown. The way it unfurls from a tight, ping-pong ball-sized bud to fill the palm of your hand is perfectly described as 'in full bloom.'

Do You Know the Difference Between Peonies and Tree Peonies?
Botanically speaking, the peony is a 'herbaceous plant,' while the tree peony is a 'woody plant.' This brings to mind the old saying: 'When she stands, she's a peony; when she sits, she's a tree peony; when she walks, she's a lily.'
Because the peony is herbaceous, its flower sits atop a straight stem, resembling a beautiful woman standing. The tree peony, being woody, has flowers on branches that spread sideways, making it look like a beautiful woman sitting. And the lily evokes the image of a beautiful woman walking with her gaze lowered.
It seems that the profound botanical insight of ancient people is hidden within this essence.
In America, Both Peonies and Tree Peonies are Called 'Peony'
This year, Mother's Day falls on Sunday, May 11th. At FLORALUXE, we've designed a gift arrangement using artificial flowers that possess a lifelike beauty, primarily featuring peonies and carnations.
Orders can be placed through the webshop 'rumors' via the link below. We are also hosting 'Mother's Day Flower Lessons' using fresh flowers in Omotesando.
