Series: Matthew Waldman | Vol. 15 New York Fashion Week
More fun than Halloween!
Vol. 15: New York Fashion Week
I intend to write this OPENERS column every month without fail, but this summer was just too busy; I wish I had more time! The season has completely shifted to autumn now, so I'll make an effort this month.

Amber Rose visited the NOOKA office!
Speaking of which, New York Fashion Week was held the week before last. More than the shows in tents, the VOGUE "Fashion Night Out (FNO)" events had the whole city buzzing, and it was quite moving. My shipment got held up at customs, so the NOOKA FNO event didn't turn out quite as planned, but we were actually supposed to unveil a new sunglasses model called "VENUS" at the shop "DDC LAB" in the Meatpacking District. In Japanese, you might say "しょうがない!" (shou ga nai! - it can't be helped!), but the party spilled out into the streets, spreading everywhere. Double-decker buses from London were turned into discos, and everywhere you looked, there was free food and drink. It was more fun than Christmas, New Year's, or Halloween.
I visited a few exhibition shows, but "LACOSTE" was impressive. Unusually, they struck a good balance between novelty and wearability for everyday. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any good photos, sorry. The set and lighting design for "Y-3" were so overwhelmingly amazing, in a good way, that I couldn't focus on the clothes. It was a show with a live performance by a British band called "The Duke Spirit," which felt almost like they lacked confidence in the clothing itself, and everyone else seemed to agree.
The show for the brand "Marlon Gobel" was also held not in the main venue tents, but inside the hotel "The Four Seasons." NOOKA was worn by the models as an accessory during the show, and while I hate to say it myself, it was amazing! The models weren't typical, but rather robust young men, sexy and cool.
Oh, and during Fashion Week, the celebrity Amber Rose even visited the NOOKA office! She was beautiful, genuine, and we got along well, so I had a great time. The photos are good, aren't they?
