Artist Makoto Azuma's Installations Add a Touch of Brilliance

The exhibition "URBAN JUNGLE" at Cassina ixc. Aoyama unfolds across three floors, creating a serene space away from the city's bustle.

On the first floor, near the entrance, Cassina's first outdoor collection is displayed alongside a plant installation by Makoto Azuma. New items include outdoor versions of Cassina's iconic designs like "LC1," "LC3," "LC7," and "LC8," as well as reinterpretations of the modernist icon "LC1," such as "LC1 VILLA CHURCH" and "LC1 UAM."

The outdoor "LC1" features a frame made of stainless steel with enhanced corrosion resistance and PVC at the leg ends. The upholstery is available in five colors, using PVC-coated polyester fabric certified by ISO9001 for its resistance to water, oil-based substances, and UV rays.

Also on the first floor are decorative items: creation bases combining teak roots and solid wood with drop-shaped glass by French designer SDA; a collection from German glassware manufacturer Guax; Kettak/rattan pieces by French maker Baolgi; and striking stacking objects in five colors by Pia Wustenberg.





The space reached by escalator on the second floor is equally unique. One area, named "Matsu" (Pine), features Charlotte Perriand's large oval table "TABLE EN FORME LIBRE" along with her "TABOURET MERIBEL" and "TABOURET BERGER" stools. The adjacent area, "Take" (Bamboo), showcases her bamboo "TOKYO" shoe long. Next to it is "Ume" (Plum), an area with a fresh reddish-brown color coordination. Additionally, new, expansive areas have been created for curtains, rugs, textiles, dining, meetings, and lounges.

On the third floor, attention turns to new pieces from the contemporary brand "ixc." The space at the top of the stairs is coordinated around the "CRUISE" bed in lustrous elm wood, available in natural and grayish finishes. Side tables and cabinets designed to match the bed's height are also displayed.

Furthermore, the new modular sofa system "PAD," which can be configured in various widths and L-shapes using joint parts, is showcased in diverse arrangements, highlighting its versatility.
