That iconic design, now within reach.
"Magis Proust" is a new version of the famous armchair, originally released in 1978, crafted using polyethylene rotational molding.
While 5% smaller than the original, MAGIS's technical prowess shines through in its faithful reproduction of the cushion's plumpness and the intricate baroque detailing, all rendered in resin.
Designer Alessandro Mendini shares, "My 'Proust Armchair' is perhaps one of my most recognized works. It's a romantic, baroque armchair adorned with pointillist-style paint across its body, ornamentation, and fabric. This was a re-design, a collage of neo-baroque chairs and details from French painter Paul Signac's pointillist works. Since then, the 'Proust Armchair' has been produced in numerous versions—varying in color, material, and scale—traveled the world, and been exhibited in many museums."
He continues, "And now, it undergoes an unexpected transformation. Here, the entirely new rotational-molded armchair, 'Magis Proust,' is born. It is truly a crystallization of technology and production. New energy in color and imagery is breathed into this timeless object."
