Achieving Further Miniaturization and Weight Reduction

"Tabi Navi" was born last year to enhance the enjoyment of travel. This new personal navigator, built on Panasonic's expertise in car navigation technology, has been developed to allow users, particularly women in their 20s and 30s, to further enjoy their journeys.

Measuring a mere 14mm in thickness and weighing 170 grams, it is approximately 38% smaller than its predecessor. Its form factor is designed for easy one-handed operation, with touch panel icons arranged for intuitive use, giving it a smartphone-like feel. The included 8GB microSD card stores data equivalent to 33 "Tabi Hana" guidebooks, popular among women, totaling about 7,800 entries, as well as "Rurubu DATA" from 120 travel guidebooks, amounting to approximately 36,000 entries. It also features functions to enrich your travels, such as "Tabi Hana" plans recommended by professionals and the "Yorimichi Concierge" which automatically suggests nearby recommended spots from the guidebooks during walking navigation.

The "Tabi Navi" is also equipped with a camera, featuring "Street View Scope" which displays the route ahead overlaid on actual street views. This provides clearer and more reassuring navigation than looking at a map alone. Additionally, the "Nani Kore Camera" function utilizes GPS and camera capabilities; by taking a picture of a nearby facility, it searches for and displays guidebook information about that location on the screen. The approximately 2-megapixel camera supports both standard and macro photography. Photos taken can be displayed on the map with their location information recorded, allowing for diverse uses.

Users can place "sticky notes" on guidebooks for easy retrieval and create their own travel plans by making "MY Guidebooks." Furthermore, guidebook data can be purchased online.

For standard navigation, users can choose from five route options based on preferences such as "lively," "many rooftops," "easy to walk," "calorie consumption," or "automatic." With the optional car mount kit, it can also be used as a car navigation system.

The "Tabi Navi" is not only useful for travel but also expands its utility by allowing users to plan trips while browsing its rich guidebooks or by using it as a daily car navigator. It promises to alleviate the anxiety of navigating unfamiliar places and help discover new aspects of familiar ones.
