Toyota Launches the New Land Cruiser 300 Series | TOYOTA
Newly Introduced GR SPORT Grade
A notable addition to the new Land Cruiser lineup is the "GR SPORT" grade, which directly incorporates improvement requests from drivers participating in the Dakar Rally, the world's toughest race, into the vehicle's development.
The Land Cruiser has participated in the Dakar Rally, known as the world's most grueling race, in the production vehicle category for over 25 years since 1995. This new model embodies the principle of "making better cars starting from motorsports." Feedback from drivers competing in this rally has been incorporated into vehicle development, aiming to create a vehicle that is easy and comfortable to drive even in harsh conditions.
Specifically, the exterior and interior have been equipped with exclusive features, including the E-KDSS (Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System), which varies the stabilizer effect electronically, along with optimized spring rates, AVS, and electric front and rear differential locks.
For the 2023 Dakar Rally and beyond, Team Land Cruiser TOYOTA AUTO BODY (TLC) plans to compete with vehicles based on this GR SPORT model. Through rally participation, they will continue to evolve and refine its high potential, feeding it back into production vehicles.
The frame is produced at Toyota's main plant, and assembly is carried out at the Yoshiwara Plant of Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd. Prices range from 5.1 million to 8 million yen.
