Renault Japon has announced the high-performance Mégane R.S. Trophy model for the Mégane Renault Sport. It will go on sale on Thursday, October 31st.
Renault Sport's Most Powerful Engine Ever: 300ps
A model inheriting the DNA of the Mégane Renault Sport (R.S.) Trophy-R, which set the production FF car record of 7 minutes 40.100 seconds at the Nürburgring in April 2019 – a track where car manufacturers worldwide test and compete for lap times – is arriving in Japan.
The Mégane R.S. Trophy is powered by a 1.8-liter direct-injection turbo gasoline engine, tuned by Renault Sport and incorporating technology cultivated in motorsport. This unit, touted as the most powerful engine in Renault Sport's history, boasts an output of 300ps, an increase of 21ps, and a maximum torque of 420Nm for the EDC model (up 30Nm) and 400Nm for the MT model (up 10Nm).
The chassis utilizes the "Chassis Cup" setup, featuring higher rates for Renault Sport's dampers, springs, and anti-roll bars to minimize body roll and enhance cornering speeds.
This chassis is equipped with a Torsen LSD contributing to driving stability and precise steering, front aluminum hub/slotted ventilated cast-iron discs for improved cooling and reduced weight, and a sports exhaust, all enhancing performance for sporty driving on closed courses.
Furthermore, it incorporates 4CONTROL (four-wheel steering system) for increased stability and 4-wheel hydraulic compression control (HCC) with a secondary damper within the main damper, enhancing control.
Body colors are available in three options: Jaune Sirius Metallic (Yellow), Blanc Nacré Metallic (White), and Gris Titanium Metallic. Pricing is ¥4.99 million for the EDC and ¥4.89 million for the MT.
