Maserati Unveils Its First Hybrid Model, the Ghibli Hybrid

On July 16, Maserati announced the "Ghibli Hybrid," a sports sedan that marks the brand's first hybrid model. The company stated that the development faced the challenge of advancing electrification while maintaining Maserati's core philosophy and values, and that the Ghibli Hybrid is the result of trial and error. The iconic Maserati engine sound remains, and the lineup has been expanded to be more competitive.

Maximum Output 330 ps, Peak Torque of 450 Nm from 1,500 rpm

The hybrid powertrain features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder e-Booster turbo engine combined with a 48V BSG mild-hybrid system. It delivers a maximum output of 330 ps and a peak torque of 450 Nm from 1,500 rpm. Paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, it achieves 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 255 km/h.
By focusing on the fluid dynamics of the exhaust gases and adjusting the resonators, Maserati has succeeded in creating its distinctive engine sound without using an amplifier. At the same time, fuel efficiency has been improved, achieving 8.5-9.6 L/100 km in WLTP mode. These results are attributed to the research and development conducted at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena.
The exterior, designed by Maserati's Centro Stile (Design Center), features a blue color symbolizing a clean car. The traditional triple side air vents, brake calipers, and the Saetta logo on the C-pillar all adopt blue accents.
The front grille combines double-blade spokes inspired by a tuning fork, while the taillights feature a boomerang shape inspired by the iconic 3200 GT and Alfieri, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro.
The interior also features blue accents, with the headrests embroidered with a blue Trident logo, as well as blue stitching on the seats, door panels, and dashboard.
In terms of connectivity, it employs an intelligent assistant multimedia system based on Android Automotive. The frameless HD screen with new graphics has been enlarged from 8.4 inches to 10.1 inches.
Production will take place at the Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli Plant (AGAP) in Grugliasco (Turin), Italy. Following the announcement of the new engine for the MC-20 super sports car, the introduction of the Ghibli Hybrid marks the first step in the company's electrification plan. Furthermore, Maserati's first 100% electric vehicles are expected to be the next-generation GranTurismo and GranCabrio, arriving in 2021.
