Refined Ride Quality Through Suspension Enhancements
The LS, which underwent a full model change to its fifth generation in 2017, transforming into a sleek silhouette reminiscent of a four-door coupe, has now been updated. Enhancements to the suspension system aim to deliver a more refined ride.
In this latest update, the FR models now feature shock absorbers with independent compression and rebound oil passages (orifices), similar to the four-wheel-drive models. This, along with expanded damping force variability and reduced friction, is said to improve ride comfort.
Furthermore, for grades other than the "F SPORT," Lexus claims to have evolved the refined ride quality by optimizing the reinforcing layer structure of the run-flat tires, which allow for a certain distance of travel even after a puncture, and by tuning the AVS and rear suspension mounts.
For the hybrid model "LS500h," the assist from the battery during acceleration has been increased, and changes to the accelerator characteristics have improved driving force and quietness. In the top-tier "Exclusive" grade, rear-seat comfort has been enhanced through features like the "Entertainment" mode, which expands the footwell space and forward visibility on the rear left side, and a retuned rear multi-operation panel for improved operability.
Pricing starts at ¥9,996,000 for the "LS500" with a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, ranging up to ¥15,691,000. The "LS500h," equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 hybrid system, is priced from ¥11,422,000 to ¥17,117,000.
