The 2010 Model Inherits Jeep's Heritage

Chrysler Japan will launch the "Jeep Wrangler Sahara," a 2-door, 4-seater model of the Jeep brand's cross-country car "Jeep Wrangler," on June 26, 2010. Furthermore, the "Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Islander" has been revived after more than 20 years.

A New Model With ECO in Mind

The 2-door, 4-seater Wrangler Sahara is equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 engine producing a maximum output of 146kW (199ps) and a maximum torque of 315Nm (32.1kgm), paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Starting with the 2010 model, an "ECO" display function has been added. When driving with good fuel efficiency, "ON" illuminates next to the "ECO" lamp on the instrument cluster, serving as a guide for ECO driving. Additionally, Hill Start Assist (HAS) is equipped to aid in starting on inclines. It holds the brakes for approximately 2 seconds while the driver shifts from the brake pedal to the accelerator, and the system reduces brake pressure upon detecting accelerator input, facilitating a smooth start. This function is extremely useful on steep slopes or during off-road driving.

Furthermore, changes to the front brake rotor size enhance braking performance on highways. New body colors, Natural Green and Stone White, have also been added.

The interior features sun visors with vanity mirrors, and the room lamp now has an on/off switch function, allowing for independent illumination of the left and right lamps. The appeal of functionality has been added to the solid Jeep brand.

The Beach-Style Islander Returns

Additionally, the Wrangler Islander has been revived as the special edition Wrangler Unlimited Islander. This model, which adopted a US beach style from 1988 to 1992, is equipped with an Islander "Tiki Bob" bonnet decal featuring latitude and longitude coordinates near the island of Hawaii, and a spare tire cover with a "Tiki Bob" logo. It is available in two colors: Surf Blue Pearl Coat and Stone White Clear Coat.

The seats are Dark Slate Gray. In addition to surf blue inserts and blue stitching, the seatbacks feature "Tiki Bob" embroidered logos. The leather-wrapped steering wheel also has blue stitching, and Mopar rubber floor mats further emphasize the beach-style ambiance.
