High Cost-Effectiveness, Including Diesel Engine Models
The new sixth-generation Jetta is a model developed with the North American market as its primary target, measuring 4,640mm in length, 1,780mm in width, and 1,450mm in height. Compared to the current model, the length has been extended by 90mm and the wheelbase by 70mm.
Along with the increase in body size, the interior space has also expanded in the new Jetta. However, the adoption of a two-tone dashboard and a new steering wheel design has significantly improved its quality.
Yet, with a starting price announced at $15,995 (approximately ¥1.45 million), it is evident that this is a model with exceptional cost performance. Furthermore, the fact that it no longer shares body parts with the "Golf" is another distinguishing feature of this new Jetta.
Scheduled for Release in the U.S. This Year
The North American power units include a 2.5L gasoline engine (170ps) as the lead, along with a 2.0TSI (200ps) and a newly developed 2.0L (115ps). The popular diesel option is a newly developed 2.0TDI (140ps), boasting an estimated fuel economy of 14.5 km/L announced by the U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
In addition, six engine options are available for the European market: four gasoline engines—1.2TSI (105ps), 1.4TSI (122/160ps), and 2.0TSI (200ps)—and two diesel engines—1.6TDI (105ps) and 2.0TDI (140ps). While a 6-speed DSG is standard for most transmissions, a 7-speed DSG is offered for the 1.4TSI.
The new Jetta is slated for release in the U.S. by the end of the year. A promotional video showcasing the appeal of the cost-effective new model can be viewed on video-sharing sites.
