Maximum Output Up 27 ps, Maximum Torque Up 48 Nm from Base Model
This new model is equipped with a 1.0-liter inline 3-cylinder DOHC turbo engine tuned by BRABUS. This results in a maximum output of 98 ps, an increase of 27 ps from the base model. Maximum torque is also reported to be up by 48 Nm to 140 Nm. Furthermore, it boasts an excellent fuel economy of 17.3 km/l in the 10/15 mode.
To complement this, the suspension features specially tuned dampers and springs. The 5-speed sequential transmission has an enlarged clutch capacity, reducing gear change speeds for 1st to 4th gears by approximately 20 percent.
The exterior includes a dedicated front spoiler, side and rear skirts, dark-toned headlights, BRABUS 6-twin-spoke alloy wheels, and a center-mounted dual chrome exhaust outlet. Body colors available are "Deep Black" and "Silver Metallic." The Tridion safety cell, a characteristic feature of the Smart fortwo, matches the body color in black or silver, respectively.
The interior is finished in black leather. It features specially designed seats and instruments, with aluminum accents on the shift lever.
The price is 2.72 million yen. Available only in right-hand drive, a total of 150 units will be released: 100 in Deep Black and 50 in Silver Metallic.
Deliveries are scheduled for around the summer of 2010.

BRAND HISTORY
When tracing the history of automobiles, we arrive at two Germans, Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, as pioneers. It goes without saying that these two men independently created gasoline-powered automobiles between 1885 and 1886, laying the foundation for the automotive society. The companies they founded were at times seen as rivals, but to overcome the recession after World War I, they joined forces, and Daimler-Benz AG was established through a merger in 1926.
The name "Mercedes," given to products, originated when Emil Jellinek, a customer of Daimler's, named it after his eldest daughter in exchange for taking over sales outside of Germany. It was registered as a trademark by Daimler in 1902.
Thus born, Mercedes, and subsequently Mercedes-Benz, has continued to lead the times as a driving force in automotive development, actively introducing cutting-edge technologies such as the safety passenger cell, airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Night View.
