Peugeot Citroën Japon announced that it will begin sales of the "3008," Peugeot's first crossover vehicle, from June 1st. It is attracting attention as a model that fuses the appeal of sedans, MPVs, and SUVs, something Peugeot has not offered before.

A Refined Front Face Packed with New Features

The Peugeot 3008 is the production model that inherits the monospace tall-boy style of the "Prologue Hybrid4" concept car unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. It is a crossover vehicle that combines the sporty driving feel and luxurious interior of a sedan, the spacious interior and high eye-point only achievable with an MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), and the powerful styling reminiscent of an SUV, all in one package.

Its features are as follows:
1. A powerful and refined monospaced tall-boy design.
2. A cabin space with excellent utility, boasting spaciousness comparable to an MPV.
3. A flexible luggage compartment that suits any use.
4. Exceptional handling and ride comfort provided by "Dynamic Roll Control."
5. Excellent environmental performance and ample power from a 1.6-liter direct-injection twin-scroll turbo engine.
6. "Euro NCAP" 5-star safety performance achieved through a robust body structure and electronics.

The most distinctive feature of the front face is the large air intake below the Peugeot emblem, with chrome inserts running horizontally and vertically within it. The stainless steel underguard fitted beneath the floor hints at dynamic off-road driving.

Maximizing the 15mm wider overall width compared to the 308 hatchback, the interior width and seat width have been expanded. Specifically, the interior width of the front seats is a generous 1,565mm in the 3008, compared to 1,490mm in the 308 hatchback. Furthermore, the distance from the seat surface to the ceiling is 1,100mm for the front seats and 1,050mm for the rear seats.

Ample Headroom and a High Eye-Point Achieved

The roof features a large panoramic glass roof as standard, measuring approximately 1,202mm wide and 1,382mm long. This brings the "brightness and sense of openness" characteristic of Peugeot's car manufacturing. The laminated glass cuts approximately 86% of heat rays and 99% of UV rays, and the electric sunshade can block direct sunlight.

The overall height, 120mm greater than the 308 hatchback, provides ample headroom and a high eye-point, offering the driver excellent visibility. A pop-up "Head-Up Display" is standard on the instrument panel, showing driving speed, cruise control/speed limiter, and distance alerts. This allows the driver to instantly confirm necessary information without diverting their gaze from the road, significantly contributing to improved safety.

The luggage compartment offers a substantial 432 liters even with the rear seats upright. Folding the 60/40 split-folding rear seats expands this to 1,241 liters. Additionally, the two-part split tailgate makes loading heavy items easier and offers various uses for outdoor activities. The luggage floor height can be adjusted in three stages to accommodate different items, making it exceptionally user-friendly.

Improved Not Only in Occupant Comfort but Also Safety

Due to the higher vehicle height, body roll can become more pronounced during cornering. This is reduced by the new "Dynamic Roll Control" technology. This system hydraulically links the left and right rear shock absorbers via a component called the center module. During cornering, when the left and right wheels move in opposite directions, the damping force increases, while during bumps and rebounds, when both wheels move in the same direction, the damping force is reduced. This mechanism achieves both excellent road holding and a supple ride.

The powertrain features a 1.6-liter direct-injection twin-scroll turbo DOHC 16-valve engine. It produces a maximum output of 115 kW (156 ps) at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 240 Nm (24.5 kgm) at 1,400–3,500 rpm. The innovative twin-scroll turbocharger and high-pressure direct injection system achieve power and economy exceeding that of a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine.

The "3-zone impact absorption body," first introduced in the 308 hatchback, has been further evolved with the incorporation of the Boge impact absorption mechanism. This mechanism is installed between the front cross member and the chassis legs, effectively absorbing impacts from the front. A total of six airbags are installed: front, side, and curtain. For active safety, it is equipped with "Distance Alert," which warns when the distance to the vehicle ahead decreases. Additionally, "Directional Headlamps" that automatically adjust their beam angle according to steering input are also fitted, enhancing safety during night driving.
