Peugeot 208 GTi Special Limited Edition Commemorates Heritage Hot Hatch Model

On April 8, Peugeot Citroën Japan announced the "208 GTi 30th Anniversary," a limited edition model commemorating the 30th anniversary of the hot hatch "205 GTi," which debuted in 1984. It will be released on Friday, May 1, with a limited production of 50 units.

Born in 1984, the heritage model "205 GTi" impressed with its sporty driving and success in motorsports, establishing "Peugeot's hot hatch" identity. The "208 GTi" is its modern interpretation, inheriting that DNA.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 205 GTi's debut, the "208 GTi 30th Anniversary," with performance further enhanced by the technology of Peugeot's motorsport division, "Peugeot Sport," has been created.

The engine is the same 1.6-liter turbo as the standard 208 GTi. However, engineered by Peugeot Sport, its maximum output is increased by 8 ps to 208 ps, and its maximum torque is boosted by 25 Nm to 300 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and equipped with dedicated shock absorbers, springs, and a Torsen LSD.

The exterior features a distinctive two-tone color scheme, "Coupe Franche" and "Satin White," reminiscent of the concept car "EXALT" that Peugeot exhibited at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. Both color options are complemented by matte black accents on the front grille, wheel arches, and 18-inch wheels, giving it an avant-garde appearance.

The interior, with its striking use of red, is also adorned with sporty accents, including bucket seats, aluminum pedals and footrest, and a serial number plate above the interior light as a testament to its special model status.

A limited run of 50 units will be available, exclusively with left-hand drive. The price is 3.58 million yen for the Satin White body color and 3.88 million yen for the Coupe Franche.
