Achieving Extremely High Driving Performance and Superior Handling Stability
The new SLS AMG features further enhancements to the 6.5-liter V8 engine, developed independently by Mercedes AMG, resulting in a significant power increase to an overwhelming 571 PS (420 kW). The adoption of a dry-sump lubrication system lowers the center of gravity, while the engine's placement behind the front axle and the transaxle-mounted 7-speed dual-clutch transmission at the rear optimize front-rear weight distribution (47:53). This configuration achieves extremely high driving performance and superior handling stability befitting a super sports car.
The design of the SLS AMG, including its iconic gullwing doors reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz's legendary "300 SL" sports car, interprets the classic long-hood, short-deck sports car style for the modern era. It aligns with the Mercedes brand's goal of presenting the most beautiful sports car of the 21st century to the world.
Lightweight Yet Rigid Body Structure with Aluminum Spaceframe
The body utilizes an aluminum spaceframe structure, achieving high rigidity while prioritizing weight reduction. This significantly contributes to its exceptional handling performance. Furthermore, the sophisticated body design ensures crash safety that meets Mercedes-Benz's stringent standards.
Thanks to this lightweight body and a drivetrain optimized with cutting-edge technology, the SLS AMG delivers overwhelming performance, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 317 km/h (electronically limited). Despite this, it achieves class-leading fuel efficiency of 13.2 L/100 km (7.6 km/L) in the NEDC combined cycle. Moreover, it meets EU5, LEV2, and ULEV emission standards, demonstrating its strong environmental credentials.
The SLS AMG, chosen as the official F1 Safety Car for the 2010 season, is expected to have a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 24.3 million yen.

BRAND HISTORY
When tracing the history of automobiles, the pioneers we arrive at are two Germans: Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz. It goes without saying that these two men independently created gasoline-powered automobiles between 1885 and 1886, laying the foundation for the automotive society. Their respective automotive companies were sometimes seen as rivals, but to overcome the post-World War I recession, they joined forces, and Daimler-Benz AG was established through their merger in 1926.
The name "Mercedes" given to the products originated when Emil Jellinek, a customer of Daimler's, had the cars named after his eldest daughter in exchange for taking over sales outside of Germany. The trademark was registered by Daimler in 1902.
Thus born, Mercedes, and subsequently Mercedes-Benz, has consistently led the way in automotive development, actively introducing the latest technologies such as the safety passenger cell, airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Night View.
