An Homage to Victory in a Legendary Race

The Mille Miglia was a road race held in Italy from 1927 to 1957. Covering 1,000 miles, it started in Brescia in northern Italy and looped to Rome and back, known as one of the most grueling long-distance races.

In 1955, Mercedes-Benz famously entered the race with the prototype "300SLR," achieving a 1-2 finish with Stirling Moss and Juan Manuel Fangio.

In that year's race, not only prototypes but also the production 300SL achieved excellent results. The 300SL (car number 417), entered privately by American driver John Fitch and co-driver Kurt Gessl, finished fifth overall and won the production sports car class.

Furthermore, 300SLs also secured seventh and tenth overall, dominating the top three positions in the production sports car class.

The special edition unveiled this time commemorates the 300SL with car number 417 that achieved this class victory. The car number 417 signifies the race's start time of 4:17 AM, assigned to each participating car.

The base vehicles are the "SL 400," equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 245 kW (333 hp), and the "SL 500," powered by a 4.6-liter V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 335 kW (455 hp). Standard equipment includes "ESP Curve Dynamics," which stabilizes the vehicle and enables agile cornering by applying brakes to the inner wheel, active suspension, and "ABC (Active Body Control)" – features typically found on higher-end models.

The standard body color for the SL Mille Miglia 417 is Magnetite Black Metallic. Optionally available are two matte finishes, Designo Night Black Magno and Designo Cashmere White Magno, or Designo Diamond White. Red trim accents the front spoiler lip, rear skirt, brake calipers visible through the 20-inch alloy wheels, and the wheel rims, providing a striking contrast against the monochrome body.

The interior, based on the AMG Line, echoes the exterior's red trim on the armrests, seats, and steering wheel. The headrests are adorned with an "SL Mille Miglia" logo.

The SL Mille Miglia 417 is available as an option, priced at 14,800 euros for the SL 400 and 12,800 euros for the SL 500. Orders will be accepted from April 7th. Introduction to Japan is undecided.
