Zegna: The Maserati of Fashion

Maserati Japan has announced the domestic introduction of the special limited model "Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition". This marks the conclusion of a series of 100th-anniversary events in Japan, as the company takes its first step towards the next century.

Unveiled last autumn at theFrankfurt Motor Showthe Maserati "Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition" was realized due to the shared values and philosophies of both companies, their customer-centric approaches, and, most importantly, the personal rapport between their top executives, explained Fabrizio Cazzoli, President of Maserati Japan. He added, "In the world of fashion, particularly bespoke tailoring, Zegna is often compared to Maserati."

The base for this limited edition is the top-grade "Quattroporte GTS," equipped with a 3.8-liter V8 engine delivering a maximum output of 390 kW (530 ps) and peak torque of 710 Nm. The body is finished in a special color called "Platinum Silk," which uses ultra-fine aluminum pigments to achieve a smooth, pure metallic texture. While sharing the overall design with the base model, it features exclusive wheels and polished brake calipers. A plate on the B-pillar signifies its status as a special edition.

The pinnacle of this collaboration is evident in the interior. The interior color scheme is unified in a new mocha-inspired hue, Testa di Moro (dark brown), and a greige created by combining light grey stitching with Sabbia leather. The seats are crafted from premium leather and fabric, with the fabric specially produced at Zegna's wool mill in Trivero, Italy.

Similar to the fabric labels found on the lining of Zegna suits, a discreet label is attached to the underside of the sun visor. The floor mats are also exclusive to this model. Furthermore, a "One of 100" plate on the center console asserts the car's special edition status.

Another significant feature is the special owner's kit, comprising 19 items including scarves, sunglasses, a blanket, and luggage. This kit also includes a coupon worth €1,000 for use at Zegna stores. According to Mr. Cazzoli, the total value of this owner's kit amounts to approximately ¥1 million.

Even in Japan, despite the consumption tax increase, sales are projected to reach 1,300 units this year, compared to 492 in 2013. Key factors contributing to this growth include the introduction of new models such as theQuattroporteand theGhibli, as well as the launch of concierge services and financing programs for Quattroporte owners. Furthermore, to further expand the domestic market, Maserati is planning to introduce the Ghibli with a diesel engine to Japan.

Beyond sales, Maserati is also focused on strengthening communication with its owners through events and online channels. As part of these efforts, the "Maserati Trofeo," a one-make race championship held across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and China, will be held in Japan for the first time next year.

Maserati is experiencing rapid market growth both globally and in Japan. With proactive initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and the introduction of diesel models, the company is poised for further market expansion in 2015.
