Peugeot has decided to launch the "RCZ," a production model of the concept car "308CZ" unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The First Production Car Without a '0' in its Name

The new "RCZ" follows the "308RCZ" concept car presented at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. Notably, for its production version, it has been deliberately separated from the "308" series, becoming the first production car in Peugeot's history not to bear the traditional numbers '0' or '00' in its name.

From the seven close-up photos released with this announcement, it's clear that the front fascia largely shares commonality with the 308 series. Furthermore, similar to the concept car, a distinct coupe-style rear design has been adopted to achieve a compact 2+2 coupe configuration.

Officially Unveiled at the September 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show

The body dimensions remain consistent with the concept car: 4276mm in length, 1840mm in width, 1320mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2608mm.

Details regarding the engine have not yet been disclosed, but it is expected to feature a diesel turbo engine, applying technology from the Le Mans-winning "908 HDi FAP".

Peugeot describes this premium compact sports coupe as having "an exterior that exudes a strong presence and performance that will satisfy enthusiasts." It is scheduled for an official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, with production slated to begin in the spring of 2010.
