170ps Max Output, 35.7kgm Max Torque

One of the defining characteristics of this GTD is that its exterior design and suspension are nearly identical to the sports model, the GTI. When Volkswagen announced the new Golf, they stated they were prepared to offer three sporty variants, and this GTD is the second of those.

The engine is a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo diesel, the TDI. Its specifications are a maximum output of 170ps and a maximum torque of 35.7kgm, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission. This combination delivers a performance of 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 222 km/h.

Suspension Tuned Like the GTI's

In terms of environmental performance, it boasts a European combined fuel economy of 18.9 km/L (compared to the GTI's 13.7 km/L) and CO2 emissions of 139g/km (GTI: 170g/km). Its emissions performance meets Euro 5 standards.

A closer look at the exterior reveals features like the mesh grille and diffuser, similar to the GTI. While the 17-inch alloy wheels have a unique design, the suspension tuning is also based on the GTI.

Pricing for the 7-speed DSG model is 29,350 euros ($40,700), and the 6-speed manual is 27,475 euros ($38,100). The 5-door version adds an additional 765 euros ($1060) to these prices, respectively.
